Coupon Basics
1. Maximize coupons (combine coupons & sales)
2. Have multiple coupons
a. Sources of coupons : in the mail, Sunday paper 99 cents on Monday (GE, CVS), internet
b. Internet coupons
accepted by CVS, Walgreens, Giant Eagle, Heinen's
NOT accepted at Dave's, Zagara's
3. Organize coupons
a. Those you cut out have a handy organizer in your wallet. File those that you want to use that week by stores. Then if you don't use them, file those in the back of the organizer in categories (food, cosmetics, cleaners, and hygiene products).
b. Those you don’t cut out YET organize in files or folders by the date they came in the paper. The date is printed on the side of each coupon book.
4. Use websites to match coupons and sales:
a. Giant Eagle – couponmom.com (national//sometimes incorrect) & northeastohiocouponers.com(locals//experienced, tried it, talk about it)
b. CVS, Walgreens, Target – everywhere (thriftyandchicmom.com , couponmom.com, pinchingyourpennies.com)

Hints and Tips
Hint: Create an “other” email address. Use it when you need to sign up at websites.
Hint: Start with a budget and stick to it. If you spend over budget, then you are not actually saving money.
Opinion: In my opinion without a coupon and sale – the cheapest place to buy food is Aldi. Before coupons I shopped at Aldi and Costco only.

Giant Eagle
a. Not a cheap store to purchase non sale items. Try to stick to your list.
b. Coupon policies
i. Accept internet coupons.
ii. Self-check outs – can only scan two of the same coupon, BUT the card employees are always happy to scan more in for you.
c. Catalinas
i. These coupons print from the Catalina machines next to the receipt machine. They only print after purchase is complete.
ii. Off your next order – There are many combinations of buy these things and get this much money off your next order. Combine with sale and coupons to get GREAT deals

75% off - marked down on the fourth day after the holiday, usually lasts for three days
90% off - marked down on the seventh day after the holiday, usually lasts for 1-3 days

CVS and Walgreens

a. ECB - Extra Care Bucks - These print on your receipt after you buy a qualifying item. These can be used like a gift certificate for anything besides prescriptions, stamps or gift cards. They are non transferable and only work with the Extra Care Card that was used to earn them. They are combinable with more ECB's and coupons. You must use the entire amount when you present the ECB print out.
b. Coupon policy – One of the best. For each item you can have an store coupon and a manufactures’ coupon. Present money of total ($4 off $20) first so that other coupons do not lower your total.

a. Easy saver rebates – This small book is published once a month and contains a list of at least two items for free after rebate. Fill out form or submit on line to receive rebate. I recommend online. Use Walgreens gift card and get an extra 10% of purchase back.
b. Register rewards – These print at register after purchase. When redeeming they count as coupons.
c. Coupon policy – Must have no more coupons than you have items.
d. Read tutorial on line.
